Quotero is the document management system (DMS) that aims to be the easiest as well as the most powerful document production environment. Because producing and accessing documents are highly frequent tasks in modern organizations, Quotero has made easing those operations its main goal.

The actual production model where users are forced to use different kinds of web applications is no longer the only solution. Using Quotero allows users to access collaborative features directly from their desktop and their Microsoft Office environments.
The structure of a document repository evolves constantly, it is why Quotero allows users to set thier own folder structure, metadata mapping and workflow architecture. Forget about XML configuration files and become the administrator of your repository!
Quotero has made its indexing and search system a key feature of the document repository. Each document is indexed along with its content and its metadata and can be searched with full-text and boolean queries. Quotero is based on a fully Service Oriented Architecture (SOA). All applications (Web client, Quotero Explorer, Quotero for Office) are third-party clients connected to the Quotero central server that exposes a webservice layer that covers all DMS features. This architecture offers strong interoperability capabilities that can be used through different APIs available in dotNet, PHP and Java.
An open model
The Quotero server source code is entirely open source and availbale under GPL license. Any developer can access, modify or enhance document repository features. Moreover Quotero offers various interfaces that can be implemented in order to customize the user management system, the rule management system, the metadata strucure or the indexing system.
Quotero speaks SOAP, FTP, CIFS and NFS
One of the Quotero's major key features is its ability to implement multiple protocols such as:
- FTP for file transfer
- NFS for file sharing in Linux-like environments
- CIFS for file sharing in Microsoft Window environments

Quotero Explorer comes with the Quotero Agent which "observes" the modifications the user makes on documents. Enhanced security
The Quotero Agent also includes a security system that backups modified documents before sending them to the server. The user can then easily access to all previous versions of a document. Therefore traditional problems of client/server architectures are prevented.
Quotero Explorer is also made for developers. They can add custom features to the application in order to meet specific needs. To do so, they only are required to implement the ad hoc interfaces that come with Quotero Explorer.

Brings Quotero features to Micrososft Office
Quotero for Office brings all the power of Quotero directly within the Microsoft Office environment.
Quotero for Officemakes documents checkin/checkout automatic without requiring any action from the user. After a Microsoft Office document is opened it is automatically locked so other users can only access it in read-only mode in order to guarantee the document repository's integrity. After the document is closed it is automatically unlocked so other users can modify it.
Quotero for Office also allows the connection between the metadata from Quotero and the ones issued by Microsoft Office. Therefore the metadata of a document is automatically enriched with the ones from Quotero and directly editable inside the document. This system makes using document templates possible as well as document generation from its metadata.
Simplified version control
Quotero for Office simplifies dramatically the version control system. The user can choose to issue a new version in Quotero at any time while he is modifying a document. This feature is available directly with the Microsoft Office environment and therefore optimizes the document's lifecycle control.
